Bria Skonberg

The talent incharge of opening the first night of concerts is the award-winning vocalist and jazz-blues trumpeter Bria Skonberg, described as “one of the most versatile and imposing musicians of her generation” in the words of The Wall Street Journal.

Among the personalities with whom Bria has collaborated are Michelle Willims (Destiny’s Child), Dave Matthews, U2 and Jon Batiste. She has earned the 2017 Juno Award Winner for Best Vocal Jazz Album and nominee to the 2018 Juno, has garnered over 6 million streams on Spotify, and made the Top 5 on Billboard jazz charts.

Her latest recording project, produced by Grammy award winning Eli Wolf, prominently features Bria’s compelling songwriting skills alongside a few creative covers.

Bria approaches contemporary subjects of womens’ rights, civil rights, frustration, despair and hope through an overarching theme of “finding light in the darkness.”
