¡Revive la edición 2021!
The 19th edition of the Riviera Maya Jazz Festival took place on November 25, 26 and 27, in a digital format to bring jazz not only to the people of Playa del Carmen, but from other states in Mexico and even the United States, who could watch our live streaming presentations on different platforms.
During these three days, the first event took place on the iconic Fifth Avenue in Playa del Carmen with the presentation of Zaikocirco, who among stilts, clowns, puppets and masks turned the atmosphere of “La Quinta” into a great party, where tourists and locals gathered to enjoy this wonderful event.

The performances on the second day were held at Teatro de la Ciudad (The City Theater), where the great singer and trompetist of jazz-blues Bria Skonberg delighted everyone with her amazing talent and voice, followed by Ravi Coltrane, son of the great saxophonist John Coltrane and the pianist Alice Coltrane, saxophonist and composer with more than 20 years of career. The evening was embellished with the presentation of the quintet formed by Elizabeth Meza, Alejandro Campos, Mark Aanderud, Luri Molina and Giovanni Figueroa, known as the Riviera Maya Jazz All Stars, who improvised during the midnight jam session, where Ravi Coltrane and his musicians end up joining them.

On the closing day, Saturday, November 27, after the big circus party at “La Quinta”, the Mexican singer Dannah Garay showed her unquestionable talent with gentle jazz rhythms that were a delight thanks to the immersive audio, which made viewers feel as if they were in our live concert. Then, it was time for one of the most privileged vocalists of contemporary jazz, Kurt Elling, who, along with composer and guitarist Charlie Hunter, filled everyone with joy with their unique mix of funk and jazz.
Riviera Maya Jazz All Stars was in charge of wrapping up this year’s festival, who invited some of the artists who appeared in this edition to the stage to sing and play some Bossa Nova songs which immediately transported us to Brazil, making this edition one for the books. We are already looking forward to celebrating the next edition, which will be a big one, as we are celebrating our 20th anniversary!
